American Ginseng Roots, Panax quinquefolius – Organically Grown
$8.49 – $44.99
Panax quinquefolius Wild specimens of American Ginseng, sometimes as old as a century or more, have been threatened by poaching and over harvesting. While seeds are still rather rare and difficult to germinate, increased cultivation has helped to preserve this traditional herb. Crops grown in wild simulated conditions can yield as much as $500 a pound at harvest. Considered an adaptogen, ginseng is said to reduce the body’s various stress responses; studies have found energizing, cognitive-enhancing, cancer fighting and overall immune boosting properties, among others. This is old news to Native Americans and the Chinese, who have used a variety of ginsengs medicinally for centuries. American Ginseng contains many of the same compounds as the closely related Asian species. Known in Traditional Chinese Medicine as a tonic for Qi, the circulating energy of life, it is also said to have a more cooling, Yin tonic effect than Panax ginseng. Native to woodland under story habitats throughout the eastern and central United States, it grows best in 70-90% shade and is ready for harvest in 3-10 years, depending on the growing method.
We’re offering organically grown roots from Canada, while cultivated ginseng’s concentrations of medicinal properties are considered lower than wild harvested, the medicinal properties are the same, just a lil lower, and we’re not depleting the wild plants, which are poached more often than not.
Fabulous organically grown dried roots, instant organic energy source 5 grams/$8.49, 14 grams/$23.99, 30 grams/$44.99
